ISLE and Dockerizing Islandora 8ISLE is a community developed open-source project that user Docker to easily install and update the Islandora platform. Dockerizing ISLE for Islandora 8 will offer a common platform to support both new institutions starting with Islandora 8, and also the 300+ institutions who will migrate from Islandora 7 to Islandora 8. ISLE already offers a proven complete ecosystem for running Islandora as production (live) platform. This talk will unpack what ISLE is and how it benefits our community as we all look towards Islandora 8.
What is ISLE? ISLE includes the current release of Islandora, and then exceeds that by also including: a best practice ISLE workflow for you to install, update and backup your Local, Staging, and Production servers; complete documentation that is both comprehensive and continuously updated; ISLE automatically installs and enables the most common 87 modules for you (51 Islandora, 26 Drupal); optional components such as automated testing or dashboard visualizations for system metrics and logging events.
We'll discuss the stability of the ISLE release process, the advantages of your institution transitioning to ISLE, and most importantly, a discussion of the roadmap for Dockerizing Islandora 8 and what that includes.
